Moms According to 4th Graders

Since Mother's Day is coming up, I thought I'd do a fun interview with my kids on the topic of mothers and their special day. I found all of these questions on various websites and picked and chose some good ones.

Anywho - Here are some of my favorite responses given by my 4th graders...

When was the first Mother's Day?

1873

Why was Mother's Day created?

Since we have Christmas and birthdays and stuff for kids to get presents, it was a good idea to make a day where moms could get presents. Plus, moms need a day when their kids are nice to them.

Why do you think God created moms?

God created moms so husbands wouldn't be lonely and so somebody could have babies.

Why do you think moms have babies and not dads?

...because girls are more gentle and don't get grossed out by babies being born like boys do.

Why are moms able to do so much all the time?

Maybe they are really superheroes in disguise. I mean, come on, how else could they do all that stuff?!

Why do you think moms love their kids even when they mess up?

...because moms are made in God's image and God loves us no matter what, so of course moms do.

What do you think moms do when no one else is around?

They have mom parties.

What do think moms do at "mom parties"?

They talk about their kids. They drink coffee. They eat cake. And they probably cook and clean for people.

Which chore do you think moms enjoy the most?

It's probably washing their kids' clothes because they get to see how clean the clothes are.

Which chore do think moms enjoy the least?

It's probably cleaning up their kids' bedrooms because it's usually gross in there.

If your mom could have any secret super power, what would it be?

Snap her fingers and all work be done.

What is one thing that almost all moms say?

Do your homework and I love you.
